ILSI India, Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, Nepal, and the ILSI South Asia Nepal Committee organized a South Asian Conference on Micronutrient Fortification of Foods: Nepal Perspective on 2000. Held in Kathmadu, Nepal, in association with Micronutrient Initiative (MI) and in cooperation with Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the conference focused on the status of food fortification for eliminating micronutrient deficiencies of iron, vitamin A, and iodine in South Asian countries. The initiatives taken by international organizations in eliminating micronutrient malnutrition were also presented. The Kathmadu Declaration outlining the next steps was adopted by the participants.
