Background and Objectives

A large section of population in India suffers from micronutrient deficiencies.  Addition of micronutrients to food products make them more nutritious and help in overcoming their deficiencies and associated health disorders like anemia, goiter, night blindness etc.

The Indian Ministry of Food Processing Industries and ILSI-India will organize the Southern Regional Conference on Fortification of Processed Foods on Friday, July 30, in Hotel Grand Ashok, Bangalore, India with the objectives of :

  • Discussing how mass consumption processed foods like wheat flour, bakery products and milk and dairy products can be fortified to overcome the deficiencies of micronutrients.
  • Identify technologies for fortification
  • Deliberate on how target population can be reached.
  • Chalk out the roles of various stakeholders in facilitating food fortification
